With just over two months left for the winter break, Bayern Munich have significant work to do regarding the contract renewals of key players in the squad. Leroy Sane is one of the players on the team who has less than 12 months left on the current deal.

The German winger is settled in Munich and open to signing a new contract. However, Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via iMiaSanMia) reveal key financial details that Sane wants Bayern to satisfy for contract renewal.

Sane is currently earning €20 million per year at Die Roten. He is open to signing a new contract with a lower base salary, but he needs Bayern to offer bonuses that will eventually take the salary closer to his current pay. The Bavarian club is also eager to bring down Sane’s base salary as they look to maintain balance in their wage structure.

Bayern held positive preliminary contract talks with Sane at the end of the season. They are expected to accelerate negotiations in the coming weeks to get clarity regarding his future before the end of 2024. Newcastle United are reportedly keeping a close eye on his situation, while Manchester United have also shown interest in Sane. FC Barcelona will be in the mix if Sane leaves Bayern since they tried to sign him in 2023.

Sane will be free to negotiate with interested clubs in January if Die Roten do not extend his contract. The German winger can sign a pre-contract agreement for a free transfer in the summer transfer window.

Status of other contract negotiations at Bayern

Meanwhile, the Bild journalists also reported that the contract extension with Manuel Neuer is a formality. The German goalkeeper is expected to sign a one-year deal. Meanwhile, negotiations with Joshua Kimmich are moving in the right direction. The Bavarian club is eager to secure the future of Kimmich sooner rather than later.

Bayern are resigned to losing Alphonso Davies. They want to keep the Canadian left-back but on their financial terms. Real Madrid have shown concrete interest in Davies, while Manchester United are reportedly open to exploring a deal for the 23-year-old left-back.

The record Bundesliga champions will soon make a contract offer to Jamal Musiala after holding positive preliminary talks in September. Several top clubs across Europe are keeping a close eye on Musiala’s situation, but Die Roten are confident about extending his contract.
