Bayern Munich are keen to extend the contract of Jamal Musiala and initial talks between the two parties took place recently.

Jamal Musiala's current contract is set to expire at the end of next season and Bayern Munich are keen to fend off competition from the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Arsenal to extend his stay at the club.

Bayern Munich keen to extend Jamal Musiala's contract

The Bayern bosses have made it clear in recent weeks that they want the 21 year old to follow in Thomas Müller's footsteps and stay at the club for years to come. And according to SportBILD, Bayern held initial talks with Musiala and his agent over a contract extension last week.

The magazine adds that the Bayern bosses made it clear during the meeting that they would like to build the team around Musiala, who will be a key figure at the club both on and off the pitch for years to come. The playmaker would also be in line for a significant salary increase, although that topic will likely be discussed in the next meeting.

While Bayern are keen to keep Musiala at the club, it remains to be seen what the player's plans are for his future. Musiala is keen to compete for the top honors, both individually and with his team. And Die Roten will have to convince him that he can achieve those goals at his current club.

On the pitch, Jamal Musiala has enjoyed an excellent start to the season and has three goals and three assists to his name in six appearances so far.
