Bayern Munich will have a new head coach in place this week as they close in on the appointment of Vincent Kompany. The Bavarian club has agreed a deal with Burnley for Kompany. The Belgian coach will complete a move to Bayern later this week.

According to Bild, Kompany’s first big task after joining Bayern is to define the future of Alphonso Davies. The Canadian full-back is currently blocking Die Roten’s transfer plans. Kompany will look to break the deadlock between Davies and Bayern regarding the new contract.

Bayern made a final contract offer to Davies in March. They had reportedly set a deadline for Davies to make a decision, but the left-back is yet to accept or reject the offer. Bayern have offered a salary worth €13 million/year, but Davies is looking for a package worth €20 million.

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Davies in the last 12 months. The Spanish club reportedly reached an agreement with Davies for two transfer scenarios- one this summer and the other in 2025. However, Real Madrid are yet to approach Bayern to begin negotiations for Davies.

The Bavarian club will sell the Canadian left-back in the summer if he refuses to sign a new contract. With just over 12 months left on the contract, Bayern will have no choice but to cash in for Davies. The funds raised from his departure will be reinvested in signing a new left-back.

Bayern have been exploring the transfer market for several left-back options. AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez is their top target to replace Davies. The French full-back is open to joining Bayern, but concrete negotiations are yet to begin with AC Milan. Girona’s Miguel Guiterrez is another left-back on Die Roten’s radar to replace Davies.

The intense transfer speculation led to a dip in performances of Davies during the second half of the season. He lost his place in the starting XI as Thomas Tuchel deployed Noussair Mazraoui in the left-back position against Real Madrid. The sooner contract talks conclude one way or another, the better for Davies to start preparing for next season.

Along with Davies, Bayern will hold contract talks with Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich during the summer. The German internationals also have 12 months left on their contract at Die Roten. Sane is expected to sign a contract extension, but the same cannot be said about Kimmich. The German midfielder has been heavily linked with PSG, FC Barcelona, and Manchester City in the last six months.
