After losing the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich are planning for a squad overhaul in the summer. The Bavarian club will make some tough decisions. As part of this shake-up, several senior players will leave Munich. Alphonso Davies is one of the Bayern players who may leave the club in the summer.

The Canadian full-back will have 12 months left on his contract in the summer. Die Roten made a final contract offer a few weeks ago. This offer was reportedly below the wage packet Davies wants in a new deal. Bayern will have to sell Davies in the summer if there is no agreement over the contract extension by the end of the season.

Real Madrid have been constantly linked with Davies in the last 12 months. The Spanish giants reportedly have a verbal agreement regarding a transfer with Davies. They are ready to wait until 2025 to sign Davies if Bayern price him out of a transfer in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Despite consistent speculation about Davies’ future, Bayern are yet to open talks with Real Madrid for a transfer. While talking to Kicker this week, Bayern CEO- Dan Christian-Dreesen admitted that Real Madrid have not made an offer for Davies. Dreesen insisted that there was zero talk with Real Madrid officials regarding Davies when they met over lunch in Munich before the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

Bayern had reportedly set a deadline in March for Davies to decide regarding the final contract offer. However, Dreesen told Kicker that Die Roten remain in talks with Davies for the contract renewal.

"Of course, we're still talking to him because he's our player. Let's see what happens in the next few weeks. There's no tendency yet"

Meanwhile, Relevo in Spain recently reported that Real Madrid have cooled interest in Davies. The Spanish club is prioritizing the center-back position over left-back in the upcoming summer transfer window. It remains to be seen if Real Madrid will wait until 2025 to sign Davies on a free transfer.

Bayern cannot afford to lose a quality player like Davies on a free transfer. The Bavarian club have reportedly identified AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez as the top target to replace Davies. Girona’s Miguel Guiterrez has also been heavily scouted by the record Bundesliga champions.

The Bavarian club will hope to get a firm decision from Davies later this month. The speculation has affected his performances this season. The 23-year-old defender is not the first-choice left-back as he came off the bench against Real Madrid on Tuesday. A resolution over contract stalemate before the end of the season will benefit all parties.
