Bayern Munich are close to completing a deal for their number one midfield target. The Bavarian club had a breakthrough in negotiations with Fulham for Joao Palhinha on Wednesday. The Portuguese midfielder will complete the move to Bayern after Portugal’s Euros come to an end.

The arrival of Palhinha will certainly impact the future of senior midfielders at Bayern. The Bavarian club is ready to listen to offers for Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. Both German midfielders are big earners in the squad. There has been no movement on Goretzka’s potential transfer, but Kimmich’s move away might have been set in motion.

According to RMC, Paris Saint-Germain have revived interest in Kimmich after making no progress in their pursuit of Joao Neves from Benfica. The French club is looking to reach an agreement with Kimmich before opening talks with Bayern.

PSG reportedly tried to sign Kimmich during the winter transfer window. The Bavarian club had no plans to part ways with Kimmich midway through the season. The German midfielder was also not keen on leaving Munich in January.

However, Kimmich has been tight-lipped about his future in the last couple of months. The 29-year-old midfielder felt that he didn’t receive enough support from the club when his performances were subject to intense criticism.

Kimmich has a year left on his contract. He will sit down with Bayern chiefs after the Euros to make a decision about his future. As things stand, it is looking very unlikely that Bayern and Kimmich will part ways this summer.

PSG will make a concrete offer for Kimmich once they agree personal terms with him. The German midfielder will only consider top clubs in Europe that compete on all fronts. Manchester City and FC Barcelona have been credited with interest in Kimmich. Bayern will hope for a bidding war after the Euros to get a significant fee.
