The midfield department at Bayern Munich will witness changes in the summer. The Bavarian club will try to sign a number six after their failed move for Joao Palhinha during the last summer transfer window. They have been linked with several defensive midfielders throughout the season.

Along with signing a new midfielder, Bayern may sell one of their senior midfielders. As per reports in England, Manchester City reportedly have two Bayern midfielders on their shortlist for the summer transfer window. According to The Athletic, Manchester City are interested in Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala.

Manchester City are keenly following the situation of Musiala at Bayern. They believe that Bayern will not entertain offers for the young attacking midfielder. However, Manchester City will be ready to bid if the player wants a transfer away from Bavaria.

The Independent has also reported that Musiala is one of the top transfer targets for Bayern in the summer. Bayern consider Musiala as the face of the club for the next decade. They are expected to open contract talks with him in the summer. His current deal at Rekordmeister expires in 2026, but Die Roten want to hand him a new long-term contract.

Kimmich’s situation at Bayern is slightly different. The German midfielder has just over 12 months left on his contract. He has been consistently linked with a move away from Bavaria throughout the season. Die Roten reportedly consider Kimmich a candidate for sale in the summer.

The German midfielder was heavily linked with Paris Saint-Germain in January. Kimmich has been tight-lipped about his future in Munich. Max Eberl recently revealed that Kimmich wants to know the new coach to decide his future.

A move to Manchester City will present Kimmich a chance to reunite with Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard worked with Kimmich for a season during his time at Bayern. If Kimmich wants a new adventure in his career, a move to Manchester City will be ideal. They are dominating the Premier League and Champions League. Kimmich will get the chance to win more silverware.

Apart from Kimmich, Leon Goretzka's future at Bayern is uncertain. The 28-year-old midfielder was recently linked with Juventus. West Ham United and Manchester United reportedly showed interest in Goretzka during the last summer transfer window.

Musiala is certainly staying at Bayern next season. The same cannot be said about Goretzka and Kimmich. It will be intriguing to see how the upheaval in the midfield will occur at Bayern in the summer.
