Joshua Kimmich has stated that he is only focused on the upcoming European Championship at the moment, amid interest from FC Barcelona.

The current contract of Joshua Kimmich is set to expire at the end of next season, and rumors have already started to swirl about the potential of him leaving the club. FC Barcelona are said to be interested in signing him, following the appointment of former Bayern and Germany trainer Hansi Flick as manager.

Premier League clubs are also likely to start circling as we get closer to the end of Kimmich's contract with Bayern Munich. But the 29 year old is not thinking about a move away from Bayern, and his full focus at the moment is on helping Germany win Euro 2024 on home soil.

"It doesn't just depend on me. What the club wants is also important. I think that discussions will take place at some point. My situation is not uncertain. I still have a year left on my contract. We now have the European Championship ahead of us. The focus is completely on the tournament. The last few tournaments have not gone so well, and we want to correct that. [As for my future] FC Bayern remains my first point of contact," Kimmich said during a press conference on Saturday.

Bayern Munich's long-drawn search for a new head coach quite possibly played a role in delaying squad planning for the new season. But with Vincent Kompany now at the helm, the Bavarians can start their preparations.

One of the important topics on the Bayern bosses' in-tray will be to resolve the future of Joshua Kimmich, who has been at the club since 2015. The versatile midfielder has made a total of 390 appearances so far for Bayern, and the hope will be that the two parties can soon reach an agreement over a new contract.
