Leroy Sane is back in training after missing the last two league games for Bayern Munich. The 28-year-old winger has joined the German camp to start preparations for next month’s European Championship. Sane is expected to feature in the starting XI for Germany in the first league game against Scotland on June 14.
Sane had a difficult Ruckrunde as he couldn’t score consistently. The German winger couldn’t emulate the electric form from the first half of the season. However, he delivered quality performances against Arsenal and Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Bayern and Max Eberl held preliminary talks with Sane at the end of April. As per Sky Sports in Germany, Sane will resolve his future at Bayern after the European Championship. The Bavarian club will hold concrete talks over a new deal with Sane once he returns from the German team. The German winger has 12 months left on his contract.
Sane is settled at Bayern and wants to stay in Munich. The German winger reportedly rejected interest from FC Barcelona last summer to stay at Bayern. Sane enjoyed working with Thomas Tuchel as he got back to his best during Hinrunde. Vincent Kompany has played with Sane at Manchester City in the past. The Belgian coach should be eager to work with him again when he takes over at Bayern in the next few days.
From a financial point of view, Bayern will have to agree on feasible terms with Sane. The German winger is one of the highest earners at Die Roten. Since Bayern want to maintain a balance in the wage structure, they wouldn’t like to commit to an expensive long-term deal with Sane.
Meanwhile, Sane will look for the best deal since this is likely to be the last big contract of his career. Since both parties want a contract extension, the Bavarian faithful will hope to see a quick resolution regarding the German winger’s future in the summer.
Bayern are planning to make significant changes in the attacking department of the squad. They are willing to hear offers for Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry in the summer. Leroy Sane may end up being the only senior wide player in the squad if Bayern focus on signing young wingers to replace Coman and Gnabry.
Apart from Sane, Bayern will sit down with Joshua Kimmich after the European Championship. The German midfielder has 12 months left on his contract. Bayern will not stand in his way if he wants a transfer in the summer. He has been heavily linked with Barcelona, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain.
