The last couple of results for Bayern Munich have certainly strengthened the belief of the club hierarchy to execute a squad upheaval in the summer. Thomas Tuchel remains under pressure, but club chiefs believe that some tough decisions need to be made in the summer to rejuvenate the squad.
Alphonso Davies is one of the players that may end up leaving Bayern in the summer. The Canadian left-back has not been at his best this season. As things stand, Davies’ contract at Bayern comes to an end in 2025.
The reports in Germany have suggested that Die Roten’s contract talks with Davies are complex due to the player’s salary demands. Moreover, there is strong interest from Real Madrid in the Canadian defender. If the Bavarian club fails to extend his contract before the end of the season, they may have to reluctantly sell him.
Bayern are already thinking about the contingency plan to replace Davies. According to Bild (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are closely monitoring the situation of Theo Hernandez at AC Milan. The French international is one of the best left-backs in Europe. He has been one of the standout players for AC Milan in the last few seasons.
Hernandez has the attacking flair very similar to Davies. The French defender has chipped in with four goals and three assists for AC Milan across all competitions this season. He is also defensively solid, making him a complete package in the full-back position.
The 26-year-old full-back is also a regular for the French national team along with his brother and former Bayern defender Lucas Hernandez. Both brothers possess a warrior-like mentality when it comes to defending and attacking.
Theo Hernandez is one of the key players for AC Milan. His current deal at the Italian club expires in 2026. Bayern will have to come up with a big bid to convince Milan to part ways for Hernandez in the summer. The record champions will have to get a good fee for Davies to reinvest it back in getting Hernandez.
Apart from Hernandez, Bayern are also monitoring Girona’s young left-back Miguel Guiterrez. In an ideal scenario, Die Roten find an agreement with Davies for a new contract. He has been a fantastic full-back for Rekordmeister. With the best years of his career ahead of him, Bayern will benefit from a long-term deal for Davies. The Bavarian club is preparing for the worst and keeping a keen eye on left-backs across Europe.
