The next summer transfer window is likely to be intriguing at Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club are reportedly open to making some tough decisions to rebuild the squad. The transfer decisions in the summer will be influenced by the negotiations with key players over contract extensions in the next five months.

Alphonso Davies is one of the several key players that are negotiating for a new contract. The Canadian full-back has 18 months left on his current deal, so negotiations must conclude one way or the other before the end of the season.

Bayern are reportedly facing complex negotiations with Davies. The left-back’s wage demands could become a big stumbling block in the contract renewal process. Moreover, Real Madrid are also interested in signing Davies next summer. Earlier this season, one report in Germany suggested that Davies is leaning towards a move to Los Blancos.

The record Bundesliga champions are also working on transfer plans, keeping in mind that there is a possibility of Davies leaving the club. According to Sport1’s Kerry Hau (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are exploring the Spanish market for full-backs. They are closely following Girona’s left-back- Miguel Gutierrez.

The Spanish full-back has played every game for Girona this season. He has played a crucial role in Girona’s surprise title charge in La Liga. In 15 La Liga games, Gutierrez has contributed with one goal and one assist this season. He also boasts a healthy passing accuracy of 87.7% in La Liga. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)

Real Madrid sold Gutierrez to Girona in 2022. The Spanish giants have a sell-on clause and retain 50% of his rights. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Real Madrid bought Gutierrez back in the summer and included him in a deal for Davies. A far-fetched idea but a completely plausible situation that may benefit all parties.

The ideal outcome for Bayern will be a contract extension for Davies. He has developed at a rapid pace in Munich and established himself as one of the best full-backs in Europe. With the best years of career ahead of him, Bayern would like to extend his contract and keep him away from their European rival. The next few months will give more clarity about Davies’ future.

Apart from Gutierrez, Bayern are also scouting Arnau Martinez from Girona. Martinez plays in the right-back position, but he can also be used in central defense. Die Roten need a versatile defender (Center-back + right-back) in January, so the interest in Martinez may become concrete when the window opens.
