Max Eberl wants Jamal Musiala to become face of Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich got back to winning ways in style on Sunday as they smashed five goals past VfL Bochum. Courtesy of their goal-scoring exploits in the Bundesliga, Bayern remain at the top of the points table. They have a superior goal difference than second-placed RB Leipzig.
Jamal Musiala was the star performer for Bayern Munich on Sunday. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder returned to the starting XI after spending the last three weeks on the sidelines due to a hip injury. He was on the scoresheet for Die Roten on Sunday and provided the assist for Harry Kane’s goal.
Musiala hardly looked rusty against VfL Bochum. His dribbling was creating problems for the hosts. They couldn’t contain him and eventually paid the price for it. Vincent Kompany managed Musiala’s game time against Bochum and brought him off at the hour mark.
The performance against Bochum once again highlighted how crucial Musiala is to the current setup. While talking to Sky Sports in Germany, Max Eberl insisted that Musiala has everything to be the face of Bayern. The club’s director of sport is working hard to extend Musiala’s contract.
"The fact that Jamal is an exceptional player is also the reason why we want to extend his contract and make him the new face of FC Bayern. He's an exceptional player with exceptional intuition when he goes into dribbling. And of course, a player like that makes others better"

Bayern optimistic about extending Musiala’s contract
Bayern have already held preliminary talks with Musiala regarding a new deal in September. The 21-year-old is expected to become one of the top earners in the squad if he signs a new deal. Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus has urged the club to break the bank to secure the future of Musiala.
The big Premier League clubs and Spanish giants are keenly following the situation of Musiala. As things stand, a contract extension at Bayern is looking likely. Die Roten are keen on securing Musiala’s future before the end of 2024.
Musiala is content with life in Munich, but he wants to compete for top individual and collective awards. He has publicly explained the conditions needed to stay at Bayern. The Bavarian club will agree with his demands since they also want to win major trophies year in, year out.
The 21-year-old is enjoying playing under Vincent Kompany this season. He is the first-choice attacking midfielder for the Belgian coach. Bayern are unbeaten in the Bundesliga after eight games, but they have struggled in the Champions League with one win in three games.
If Bayern maintain their current form, the Bundesliga title will likely return to Allianz Arena. However, they need further improvement to win the Champions League. Musiala holds the key for Die Roten, so Bayern cannot afford to have distractions around his future due to long-drawn contract negotiations.
