Report: Bayern Munich set to open talks with Leroy Sane
The latest reports in Germany suggest that Bayern Munich will re-open talks with Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.
Bayern Munich delivered an emphatic performance against Tottenham Hotspurs on Tuesday. The German club was ruthless in the final third as they scored seven goals against the English side. Niko Kovac had previously urged his players to be more clinical in the final third after their narrow 3-2 victory against Paderborn last weekend.
Die Roten’s first-choice wingers impressed against Spurs. Kingsley Coman didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet but looked threatening during his stay on the pitch. Serge Gnabry meanwhile stole the show by scoring four goals against the North London side.
Despite the positive start to the season for Coman, Ivan Perisic and Gnabry, Bayern wants to further improve their options in the attacking department. The Bavarians are reportedly planning to open talks with Manchester City winger Leroy Sane.
According to SportBild, Bayern were offered Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus, but the German club has set their eyes on Sane. The defending Bundesliga Champions wants to initiate talks with Sane in the coming weeks. Uli Hoeness also admitted last week that Bayern may revive their interest in Sane during the winter transfer market.

This report from SportBild also insists that Bayern is unlikely to pay over the odds for Sane due to his current contract situation at Man City. Pep Guardiola confirmed in summer that the German winger rejected a contract offer from the Premier League champions. His current deal expires in 2021, so Man City may have to listen to offers for him next summer.
The Bavarians made Sane as their prime summer transfer target. The German club worked hard throughout the summer to get the deal over the line. As soon as this transfer gained some sort of momentum, Sane suffered a serious injury. Bayern dropped their plan to sign him and moved for Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho in the penultimate week of the transfer window.
Sane’s arrival will make Die Roten’s attack even more potent. The German winger’s numbers in the final third for Manchester City in the last two seasons have been impressive. Die Roten will be set for years in the attacking department if they can conclude Sane’s transfer.
This report also confirms that the defending Bundesliga Champions will sign only one out of Kai Havertz and Philippe Coutinho next summer. Die Roten have been heavily linked with Havertz while Coutinho joined the club from Barcelona on a one-year loan deal. The Bavarians will not be able to sign both the players next summer as they will each cost in excess of €100 million.
