Along with German players, the French duo from Bayern Munich also suffered disappointment at Euros 2024. France were knocked out of the competition in the semi-final against Spain on Tuesday. Dayot Upamecano played the entire game, while Kingsley Coman was an unused substitute.

Coman worked hard to be fit for the Euros after his season at Bayern ended with a serious injury. After several days of intense recovery, Coman hoped to play a decisive role for France. However, the French winger played only 15 minutes during the tournament.

On the back of a disappointing tournament with France, L’Equipe (via GFFN) reports that Coman is considering retirement from international football. The French winger is scarred by how Euros 2024 panned out for him.

It will be too early for Kingsley Coman to consider retiring from international football since he turned 28 last month. However, persistent injuries over the last several years may play a big role in Coman’s decision. The French winger probably wants to extend his career at the club level by retiring from international football.

Coman had reportedly considered retiring from football in 2018 when he was struggling with injuries. However, the French winger worked hard on recovery and eventually returned to his best. Coman scored the winner against PSG in the Champions League final four years ago. Since Coman previously changed his mind about retirement, seeing him play again for France cannot be ruled out.

Coman open to leaving Munich this summer

With the Euros ending for Coman on Tuesday, he can focus on resolving his future at Bayern. The Bavarian club is open to selling the French winger. Coman wouldn’t mind a change of scenery after enjoying success in Munich during the last eight seasons.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on bringing Coman back to the club. Coman spent time at PSG during the initial years of his career. There will be significant interest in Coman if he actively looks for a transfer. He will hold talks with Bayern chiefs and Vincent Kompany in the coming days to clarify his future.

Coman’s departure will help Bayern to make space for the new signings in the attack. The Bavarian club has already signed Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. Bayern are also interested in signing Xavi Simons from PSG. With two new attacking players coming to Munich this summer, Coman will have to leave Die Roten to get adequate playing time.
