Bayern Munich parted ways with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting at the end of the season. The Cameroonian was not offered a contract extension, allowing him to leave Bayern on a free transfer. He may not be the most memorable signing for Die Roten, but Choupo-Moting did a fine job for Die Roten.

The Bavarian club is expected to look for a direct replacement for Choupo-Motin. A striker that can play in multiple positions and adequately fill in for Harry Kane whenever needed. Earlier on Friday, Sport1 reported that Bayern are thinking about Joshua Zirkzee’s return to the club,

However, Sky Sports in Germany (via iMiaSanMia) has quickly squashed this report. The Bavarian club is not actively pursuing a move for Zirkzee. Die Roten believe Mathys Tel can play consistently next season and fill in for Kane. Vincent Kompany is impressed by the young French forward. He is expected to feature regularly for Kompany next season.

Zirkzee has been in sensational form for Bologna this season. His consistent performances helped the Italian club to qualify for the Champions League. The Dutchman scored 11 goals in Serie A. Zirkzee polished the rough edges of his game at Bologna to become a well-rounded striker. He is going to attract significant interest from Italian and other European clubs.

Bayern will benefit from Zirkzee’s next move. They had inserted a buyback and sell-on clause in Zirkzee’s transfer to Bologna last summer. Zirkzee had excelled under Kompany during the loan spell at Anderlecht. However, they will not be reunited at Bayern in the summer.

In terms of strikers, Bayern have been heavily linked with VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy. He scored 28 goals in the Bundesliga, finishing second in the Golden Boot award behind Harry Kane in Germany. Guirassy reportedly has a release clause worth €17 million in his contract at Stuttgart.

The Guinean striker is unlikely to join Bayern to be a backup striker. Borussia Dortmund are also actively pushing for Guirassy. He is likely to join Dortmund over Die Roten due to the guarantee of consistent playing time.

Apart from a striker, Bayern are also looking to sign a winger in the summer to strengthen their attack. They are reportedly ready to listen to offers for Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig duo Xavi Simons and Dani Olmo are on the club’s shortlist for wide position. Stuttgart’s Chris Führich has also been strongly linked with a move to Bavaria. Depending on departures, Die Roten’s attack will get a new personnel next season.
