The attacking options at Bayern Munich were strengthened in January by the early arrival of Bryan Zaragoza. The Spaniard was initially set to join Bayern in the summer, but a serious knee injury to Kingsley Coman forced the Bavarian club to bring the transfer forward by six months.
Zaragoza is expected to be part of the squad for the game against Lazio on Wednesday. The Spaniard will give Thomas Tuchel another option in the wide areas. Along with Zaragoza, it does look like Bayern have more plans to strengthen the attack in the summer.
According to Bild (via GGFN), Bayern have decided to approach VfB Stuttgart to sign Serhou Guirassy in the summer. The 27-year-old striker had a release clause worth €20 million in his current deal at Stuttgart. He was heavily linked with Manchester United and Newcastle United in January, but a transfer never materialized.
Guirassy has been enjoying a prolific campaign with Stuttgart. He is only behind Harry Kane in the list of top goal-scorers in the Bundesliga this season with 17 goals. Guirassy’s consistency in the final third has helped Stuttgart to fight for a place in the top four of the Bundesliga.
Bayern are expected to part ways with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the summer. The Cameroon international’s contract expires at the end of the season. Since Die Roten are not showing any appetite for an extension until now, he is expected to leave on a free transfer.
The record Bundesliga champions will need a striker to replace Choupo-Moting in the squad. Guirassy will be a perfect plan B in the number nine position for Bayern. He can also play upfront with Kane when Bayern are chasing games. The English striker can drop deep and operate as a number ten.
Guirassy’s prolific campaign with Stuttgart is not going unnoticed in Europe. There will be several clubs interested in signing him at the end of the season. Considering the affordable release clause, he becomes an even more attractive option for big clubs. It remains to be seen if he will be content with a backup role at Bayern or take up another option where he will play every weekend.
Apart from a striker, Bayern are not expected to be active in the transfer market in the summer for attacking reinforcements. They will only dip into the transfer market for additional forward if one of their senior wingers ends up leaving Munich.
