Bayern Munich set to lose out to Chelsea in race to sign Barcelona youngster

Bayern Munich appear set to miss out on the signing of the highly rated Marc Guiu, with Chelsea advancing in talks for the talented FC Barcelona striker.

On the back of his sublime performances this season, Marc Guiu has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Bayern Munich were keen to bolster their attack by signing the 18 year old. But it looks like they have been overtaken by Chelsea in the race for his signature.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are advancing in talks to sign Guiu and are ready to trigger the release clause of six million euros in his contract. FC Barcelona also want to keep the Spain U-19s international at the club, but it appears that Chelsea are set to win the race for his signature.

Guiu broke into the Barcelona first-team this season, making seven appearances for Xavi’s side. He scored two goals, including the winner against Athletic Bilbao in October. The striker also showcased his impressive potential at youth level, and his impressive potential is now set to earn him a move to Chelsea.

Bayern Munich’s search for a new striker will continue as they look to replace Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this month. Harry Kane and Mathys Tel are the two strikers in Bayern’s first-team ranks at the moment, although Vincent Kompany also has a number of talented players in the club’s youth teams that he can call upon.

The Bavarians are also set to bolster their attack with the signing of Michael Olise, having already brought in Nestory Irankunda from Adelaide United. In addition, they are targeting a move for Xavi Simons, who is coming off an impressive loan spell with RB Leipzig.
