Bayern Munich not planning new signings in January

As things stand, Bayern Munich are reportedly content with the squad and have no plans to make new signings during the winter transfer window.

Despite an underwhelming second half of the summer transfer window, Bayern Munich chiefs will be content with their business. Apart from Hiroki Ito (who is injured), the summer arrivals have made a positive impact on the pitch. Bayern wanted to add more faces to the squad, but it largely depended on outgoings.

Vincent Kompany got the best out of the squad in the first three months of the season. The first team has delivered consistent and entertaining performances this season, which has helped him to gain a lead of five points at the top of the Bundesliga table. The Belgian coach will have to work with the squad at his disposal for the rest of the season.

According to SportBild’s Christian Falk (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are not planning to make new signings during the winter transfer window. Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have consistently insisted that the squad is well-equipped for the campaign.

Die Roten have big targets for next summer as they have concrete interest in Florian Wirtz, Jonathan Tah, and Xavi Simons. These players will not be available in January, so it makes sense for Bayern to save funds for the summer.

Moreover, Kompany’s squad will be strengthened by the return of Josip Stanišić and Hiroki Ito during the second half of the season. Ito and Stanišić have not played for Die Roten this season, but they are expected to return in December.

Eberl and Freund have to focus on contract extensions during the winter window

Even though Bayern will not be busy in the transfer market, there is a lot of work to do on squad planning for Eberl and Freund. Several players have just over six months left on their contracts. Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies, and Leroy Sane can talk to interested clubs in January regarding a free transfer in the summer.

Kimmich and Sane are happy to stay in Munich, but there is work to be done regarding contract renewals. Bayern are hoping to reach an agreement with them before the end of 2024. Meanwhile, Die Roten also need clarification around the long-term future of Alphonso Davies. Manchester United and Real Madrid are interested in the Canadian left-back.

Bayern are also working on the contract extension of Jamal Musiala. The German attacking midfielder has 18 months left on his contract.

Eberl and Freund would hope to wrap up contract negotiations by the end of the winter transfer window. The second half of the season will likely see them laying the groundwork for the transfer dealings that will be concluded in the summer.
