The first international break of the new season is finally over as Bayern Munich turns their focus to the weekend’s big clash against RB Leipzig. It has been a brutal two weeks for Die Roten in terms of injuries for players while training with national teams, but there was positive news for the Bavarian faithful on Thursday.

Thomas Muller and Alphonso Davies have started training with the first team. Both of them are likely to be in contention for the game against Leipzig. Dayot Upamecano is also likely to feature against his former team since he has been training with the first team this week.

Muller had withdrawn from the German squad due to an adductor problem. He didn’t feature in a single game for Germany during the international. Considering his strong start to the campaign, Muller’s return to fitness is a major boost for Nagelsmann.

Meanwhile, Davies had suffered the injury during the 1-1 draw against USA last weekend. The Canadian winger returned to Sabner Strasse to complete recovery. Similar to Muller, Davies has delivered good performances in the first month of the season after missing the entire pre-season due to injury.

More from Bayern Strikes

Lucas Hernandez and Marc Roca are expected to be part of the matchday squad against RB Leipzig. The French defender has been on the sidelines since Euro 2020, while Roca suffered a serious injury during pre-season training. Both of them started training on the pitch during the international break.

Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman are unlikely to feature against RB Leipzig as they were training individually on Thursday. They had suffered injuries while training with the French team.

One report in Germany had hinted that Tolisso could be out for a longer time, but him training outdoors suggest that injury is not serious.

Benjamin Pavard is also back on the grass to start training after suffering an injury setback at the start of the campaign. The French defender is unlikely to be ready for the clash against Leipzig, but he should be in contention for next weekend’s Bundesliga game.

Marcel Sabitzer is also fit to make his Bundesliga debut for Die Roten. The 27-year-old midfielder didn’t join up Austria’s squad during the international break since he was recovering from a minor knock. Overall, it does look like Nagelsmann will have a strong squad available for the weekend’s game despite getting multiple injury scares in the last seven days.
