The last few days have seen a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Leon Goretzka at Bayern Munich. The German midfielder has less than 12 months on his contract, with negotiations between two parties for renewal turn out to be complicated. The latest reports suggest that Goretzka still sees a long-term future in Bavaria.

According to Goal, the talks between Leon Goretzka and Die Roten have reached an impasse due to the player’s salary demands. However, this report does dismiss claims suggesting that Goretzka is looking for a salary package worth €20 million. The German international is not considering any offers despite a reported offer from Manchester United.

Earlier this week, reports in Germany confirmed that Die Roten is going to face a challenge in contract negotiations with several players due to the contract of Leroy Sane. The young German winger became one of the best-paid players at the club last summer after finally sealing a move from Manchester City.

Leon Goretzka has been considered a pivotal player for Die Roten. New head coach Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that the former Schalke midfielder remains committed to the team. The German manager is considering Goretzka as one of his key players for next season.

More from Bayern Strikes

Rekordmeister has to find a way to find a middle ground in negotiations with Goretzka. Considering the priority of the player to stay in Munich, the German Champions should be confident about getting this deal over the line. However, the club chiefs will have to find a way to avoid getting into such a tricky situation regarding contract talks with key players in the future.

Apart from Goretzka, Die Roten is also facing complex negotiations with Kingsley Coman. Some reports have suggested that talks have reached an impasse, with Coman disappointed with the club’s offer. The Frenchman has been linked with top clubs in Europe, but Die Roten is unlikely to sell this summer and may try to convince him next season.

Joshua Kimmich is also in line for a new deal as his contract expires in 2023, while the future of Niklas Sule is uncertain, with one year left on the current deal. The next 12 months will be crucial for the club as they look to secure the future of the team’s young core.

The contract of Sane has definitely created an awkward situation at the club. The likes of Goretzka, Coman, and Kimmich are well within their rights to ask for a similar deal. Considering the role and importance of these players, Die Roten should give serious thought to retaining their services. Replacing these players is going to be more expensive, so giving them longer deals might be a better idea for the German Champions.
