The summer transfer window is crucial for Bayern Munich regarding the long-term squad planning. More than signing new players, the German Champions need to sort the future of some of the senior players in the squad. Leon Goretzka tops the list of players that need their future resolving one way or the other.

Die Roten is eager to keep Goretzka since he is one of the key players in the squad. Earlier this summer, there was reportedly a breakthrough regarding the new deal. However, negotiations faced a big hurdle after another agent was reportedly inserted in the talks. The latest update from Germany doesn’t sound promising for the German club.

According to SportBild (via iMiaSanMia), Goretzka’s representatives are frustrated with the pace of negotiations with Die Roten. Moreover, the German midfielder has received a lucrative contract offer from Manchester United to join on a free transfer at the end of next season. Real Madrid and Barcelona are other clubs interested in signing Goretzka on a free transfer. The German midfielder had also arrived joined Rekordmeister on a free transfer from Schalke in 2018.

The departure of Leon Goretzka will be a massive blow to Die Roten’s long-term plans. The German international has been playing at a good level since arriving from Schalke in 2018. His performances have got better with every passing campaign, making him a vital player for the club and country. Nagelsmann has been confident about Goretzka will to stay in Bavaria, but it is likely to come down on the good financial package offered by the club.

More from Bayern Strikes

Die Roten has been facing hurdles in contract negotiations over the last 18 months. They lost Thiago Alcantara in a cut-price deal in 2020. The Spaniard wanted a new adventure, so it was not Rekordmeister’s fault.

After Thiago’s departure, the German Champions failed to reach an agreement with David Alaba regarding a new deal. The Austrian defender ended up joining Real Madrid on a free transfer earlier this summer. Die Roten has also reportedly reached an impasse with Kingsley Coman regarding a new deal. Joshua Kimmich will be in line for negotiations since his contract expires in 2023. Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn have a big challenge ahead of them to secure the services of these key players.

Bayern Munich will make decision on Sule by winter

SportBild is also reporting that Die Roten will make a decision on the future of Niklas Sule before the winter break. The German defender has entered the final year of his current deal, raising doubts over his long-term future in Bavaria.

Sule will reportedly hold talks with Julian Nagelsmann once he returns from vacation. The German defender has been linked with Chelsea in the past, but there have been no offers until now. Considering the depth Die Roten has in central defense, it will not be a surprise to see Sule leaving this summer if an adequate offer comes in.

In case Sule ends up staying, then the first half of the season will be crucial for him to convince the board to offer a contract renewal. Nagelsmann has laid down the challenge for Sule. The German coach had got the best of Sule at Hoffenheim, so there is hope for the player to extend his stay in Bavaria.
