In the past few weeks, the German media has been reporting about plans initiated by Bayern Munich for the summer transfer window. Defense is going to be bolstered by the club due to multiple departures. Along with the center-back position, the German Champions are looking to improve depth in the left-back position.

According to SportBild, Bayern has a list of four full-backs that can provide cover and competition for Alphonso Davies. The four left-backs mentioned in this report are VfB Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa, Werder Bremen’s Marco Freidl, Reading FC’s Omar Richards, and Hertha Berlin’s Luca Netz.

Along with these four young left-backs, SportBild’s Christian Falk also confirmed that Norwich City’s Max Aarons remains on Bayern’s radar. The English full-back is seen as a player that can play on both flanks. Aarons was heavily linked with a move to Bavaria, but the transfer didn’t materialise.

Marco Friedl has played at reserves level for Bayern in the past before going out on loan to Werder Bremen. He eventually joined Bremen permanently, with the German Champions having a buyback clause worth €10 million. Friedl will take very little time for adaption at Bayern since he has previously worked with the first team. He has steadily improved at Bremen, becoming a reliable full-back in the Bundesliga.

More from Bayern Strikes

Meanwhile, Omar Richards will be available on a free transfer in the summer. The English media outlets suggested in January that Die Roten has held concrete talks with the 22-year-old full-back during the winter transfer window. Improving left-back position by signing a player on a free transfer will be an enticing option for Bayern.

Netz has made his debut for Hertha Berlin this season. The 17-year-old full-back would be better served by staying at Hertha for a couple of seasons before taking the big step in his career. For Sosa, Stuttgart may demand a bigger fee compared to all other players mentioned in this list apart from Aarons.

The signing of Aarons will make sense for Die Roten if they are thinking about offloading Bouna Sarr during the summer transfer window. The French full-back has struggled to make a big impact since joining the club from Marseille in the summer. The recent reports in Germany suggested that the club is contemplating his future at the club.

The plan for Die Roten is looking clear. They want to move Lucas Hernandez in the central defense to replace David Alaba. This move will make sure that there needs to be a left-back in the squad that can share the workload with Davies. Out of all options mentioned in SportBild, Richards and Freidl look to be the best and financially viable players for Bayern in the summer.
