Bayern Munich: Three things to watch for in away match in Berlin
By Daniel Garza
Bayern Munich travels to the Olympiastadion to face Hertha Berlin on Matchday 20 of the Bundesliga season. The visitors will be looking to go into the club world cup by completing a league double over Hertha Berlin.
Die Roten won the first meeting in October by a final score of 4-3 which featured a stunning four-goal performance from Robert Lewandowski. There should be more goals to come in this fixture as Bayern look to extend their winning streak on the road in Berlin. Here are three things to watch for ahead of Friday’s match.
The struggles continue for Hertha Berlin
It has not been a very good start to 2021 for Hertha Berlin. They have won just one of their six matches so far this year. As a result, they have found themselves near the relegation zone in 15th place. Recently appointed manager Pál Dárdai appears to have a very difficult task ahead of him to get the club to safety and back into the top half of the table.
Bayern will provide a massive test for Hertha Berlin and it’s going to take a colossal effort from the hosts to win this match. With the club being faced with the real possibility of being a part of the relegation battle, it could provide a spark that is needed to start winning matches. For this reason, Hertha Berlin could make this closely contested match as it was when the two clubs met in October.
More from Bayern Strikes

Bayern look to extend winning streak
After losing back-to-back fixtures in January to Borussia Mönchengladbach and Holstein Kiel, Bayern has recovered well to win four consecutive Bundesliga fixtures. Two of these four wins have been clean-sheet performances and another two have featured four-goal performances from Die Roten.
A win against Hertha Berlin on Friday would extend this winning streak to five matches and continue to allow Bayern to lead the Bundesliga by at least seven points. RB Leipzig’s next three fixtures are against clubs in the bottom half of the table which means it’s not likely Bayern will extend their lead in the coming weeks. Additionally, Bayern can’t afford to drop points with their closest rivals for the title still within striking distance.
More goals from Lewandowski?
Lewandowski’s four-goal performance against Hertha Berlin on Matchday Three was one of his best goal-scoring displays of the season. With the Polish striker continuing to show incredible form, he could produce another multi-goal performance against Hertha Berlin.
The Polish striker will certainly be a key player for Bayern as he has scored seven goals in his three appearances against Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga. The journey continues for Lewandowski on his quest to set a league record for most goals scored in a single season.
