Hansi Flick is hopeful about more arrivals at Bayern Munich this summer.

It has been a strange year for football. The coronavirus pandemic has affected the game as there is still no clarity about fans returning to the stadium. Bayern Munich did make it a memorable campaign by Completing the treble after clinching a 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon last month.

There is very little time to rest for the Bavarians as they start their Bundesliga title defense next weekend against Schalke. Every top club had to do without the pre-season tour and intense pre-season training. Moreover, games are going to cramped up next season. It starts late but ends at the usual time.

Navigating through such a hectic schedule will be a massive challenge for Hansi Flick. The German manager has been consistent with his lineups since the winter break to build good team chemistry and coordination to play high intense football. Flick will have to rotate smartly next season to manage the workload of players.

The German coach also believes that Die Roten needs to invest in the market to assemble a squad challenging on all fronts. Speaking to media on Wednesday (via Bild), Flick admitted that he is hopeful about new arrivals at the club as he remains in constant touch with Hasan Salihamidzic ahead of a challenging campaign.

"“I’m in an exchange with Hasan to make sure that we have a deep squad with good quality across the board.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Flick confirmed that the club would not be signing Ivan Perisic permanently, while Alvaro Odriozola and Philippe Coutinho have already left the club after their loan spells came to an end. The German manager will be looking to sign replacements for these three players in the next four weeks.

Die Roten reportedly remain in talks with Ajax defender Sergino Dest to provide competition and cover for Benjamin Pavard. Flick wants four wingers in the squad for the next campaign. The club did submit the first bid for Perisic, but Inter Milan wanted a higher fee that Die Roten were not ready to pay. It will be interesting to see which wide player the German club will turn their attention after a failed attempt to sign Ivan Perisic.

Along with right-back and winger, Rekordmeister could be in the market for a midfielder. Thiago Alcantara is likely to leave this summer, while Javi Martinez is reportedly close to joining Athletic Bilbao. The German champions are also far from agreeing to a new deal with David Alaba. Flick insisted on Wednesday that Alaba and Thiago will be in contention for selection till their future is not sorted one way or the other.

Bayern suffered an injury blow this week as new arrival Tanguy Kouassi suffered a thigh injury during the international break. Along with Kouassi, Die Roten have also completed deals for Leroy Sane and Alexander Nubel this summer. Flick’s admission in public could force the club’s hand to fasten the deals for further arrivals.
