Philippe Coutinho’s time at Bayern Munich could see another twist as per the latest report in Spain.

Bayern Munich will have to make few decisions regarding the future of players that joined the club on loan last summer. The club is reportedly ready to take up the option of signing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, while Philippe Coutinho and Alvaro Odriozola look certain to leave the club at the end of the season.

It has been evident for some time now that Die Roten will not sign Coutinho for a hefty fee in summer. However, Mundo Deportivo is suggesting that the German club will be ready to extend the loan of Brazilian forward by one more year.

Coutinho has struggled to establish himself as a star player in Bavaria after arriving with so much fanfare in August 2019.  The defending Bundesliga champions decided to move for the Brazilian after their unsuccessful pursuit of Leroy Sane from Manchester City.

Kia Joorabchian, Coutinho’s agent, has insisted that nothing is yet to be decided about the Brazilian’s future. Speaking to Sport1, Joorabchian admitted that Coutinho is just focussing on returning to action and help Die Roten to win the league title.

"“No decision has yet been made regarding his future. As I have said many times in uncertain times like this: We are not currently talking about any transfers or future plans and have not discussed them yet.”“The most important thing for him now is to focus on a quick recovery so that he can help his team back on the pitch as soon as possible.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Joorabchian also revealed that Coutinho is happy in Munich and loves the club. The Brazilian has always spoken brightly about the club ever since completing the temporary move from Barcelona. He was confident about improving as the season progressed, but various reasons have not allowed him to show his best level in Bavaria.

Sport1 also suggested that Coutinho’s future is likely to be connected with the club’s interest in Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. The report speculated that Die Roten might look back at Coutinho as an option for next season if they fail to sign Havertz in the summer transfer window.

Coutinho has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the past couple of months. If he does end up staying at Bayern, then it would be a massive turnaround. However, it could be detrimental to his confidence if he again joins the club on loan. Considering ups and downs in his last two seasons, Coutinho needs clarity and stability regarding his position and club.

Moreover, this transfer will not be beneficial for Coutinho since Thomas Muller has reinvented himself by producing his best performances under Hansi Flick. At the moment, another loan move to Bavaria looks the least favourable option for Barcelona and Coutinho. Meanwhile, the Brazilian returned to pitch for training on Monday as he faces a race against time to play the last few league games of the season.
