Joshua Kimmich backs the appointment of Hansi Flick as the new permanent manager of Bayern Munich.

In the last fortnight, Bayern Munich has made two important decisions. These two decisions are likely to shape up the immediate future of the club. Thomas Muller decided to extend his stay at the club by signing a contract extension.

Meanwhile, on the coaching front, Die Roten decided to appoint Hansi Flick as their permanent manager. The German manager was handed a two-year deal after delivering impressive performances during his interim tenure.

It was a matter of when rather than if for Flick to be given the permanent role. The win against Chelsea in the first leg of the round of 16 phase in the Champions League probably sealed the deal for Flick. Not only the win, but the nature of win made Flick as a firm candidate for the managerial position.

Joshua Kimmich has backed Bayern’s decision to give the permanent role to Flick. Speaking to TZ (via Bulinews), the German midfielder admitted that it was a logical move to give a new deal to Flick last week. Kimmich also insisted that Flick has been able to convince all players and staff regarding his ideas for the team.

"“He has a very good approach to us players, to the team. He has also managed to take the entire staff with him. He conveys appreciation and importance to everyone in our team. Over the past weeks, we’ve seen that everything works very well.”“It was the logical consequence of our results and performances. All in all, I think we’re moving in the right direction and that we are more dominant now.”"

Flick took over the role in November and made an immediate impact on the team’s fortune. Die Roten were struggling to achieve consistency in results. Flick managed to get the team back on the track in the Bundesliga and stitched a good run of form across all competitions.

Along with winning games, Flick also got the team playing an attractive style of football. After the winter break, Rekordmeister were swatting teams aside by dominating the games from the word go. They regained the top place in the league and opened up a four-point lead over Borussia Dortmund.

Players have been pleased with Flick’s management style. Multiple players praised him publicly and also backed him to become permanent manager even before the club hierarchy had made the changes. His astute man-management made sure that fringe players also bought into his philosophy, and there was no air of discontent in the dressing room.

Along with Kimmich, Jupp Heynckes also recently praised Die Roten’s decision to appoint Flick. Things have gone in Flick’s way, but he will have new challenges after getting the role permanently. Expectations will be high from Flick from now on, but he has surely shown the ability to navigate the team through difficulties and get them to their best.
