Bayern Munich has reportedly made an offer for Shakhtar Donetsk defender Dodo.

The winter transfer window is never an important topic for Bayern Munich, as they hardly sign a big player during January. However, things are different this time due to the thin size of the squad. Hansi Flick is eager to add at least two fresh faces to the squad.

Bayern is reportedly looking for a right-back to bolster their defensive options. Die Roten have been linked with numerous defenders in the past four weeks. The most recent report is suggesting that Die Roten may do business with Shakhtar Donetsk.

According to Goal, Bayern has submitted a €25 million bid for Shakhtar’s Dodo. This report insists that Shakhtar wants €30 million for the right-back. The young Brazilian full-back is playing regularly for Shakhtar this season after spending last season on loan at Vitoria de Guimaraes.

Dodo had a fairly decent output in the final third this season. He has contributed to five goals in 17 appearances across all competition. The Brazilian full-back’s contract is set to expire in 2022, so Shakhtar is unlikely to budge on the fee. More from Bayern Strikes

The transfer fee is hefty for an inexperienced full-back, but Dodo can be considered as a long term solution to right-back position due to his age and potential. However, he will need some settling time and may not make an immediate impact this season.

On Wednesday, the German reports suggested that Die Roten is looking at Thomas Meunier as the possible solution to this position. The Belgian will be a much cheaper option than Dodo, and he will need very little time to settle at the club. Flick dreams about getting the role on a permanent managerial role at Bayern, so he would prefer an immediate response from January signings.

Apart from Meunier and Dodo, Bayern can explore other defensive options in the market. A loan move cannot be ruled out as Die Roten has been exploring such deals in the past few years. Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo is reportedly a loan target for Bayern in this position.

Meanwhile, Rafinha has admitted that he will be happy to return to Bayern Munich if the club needs his services. The Brazilian full-back left the club in summer and joined Flamengo on a free transfer. Die Roten is building a new squad, so it will be a huge surprise if they recall a veteran player like Rafinha.
