Bayern Munich heavily linked with Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho
Bayern Munich has reportedly shown concrete interest in Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho.
The wait for a forward came to an end for Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Die Roten completed the transfer of Ivan Perisic on Tuesday. The Croatian winger was unveiled in front of media on Wednesday. Apart from Perisic, Bayern is reportedly still keen on adding one more forward before the deadline day.
Bayern had reportedly enquired about Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian is reportedly facing an uncertain future at the Spanish club. After the initial report from Mundo Deportivo, numerous outlets in Europe are reporting that Bayern has serious interest in Coutinho.

According to Kicker, Bayern is considering a move for Coutinho. This report insists that Coutinho’s move to Bavaria will depend on Neymar Jr’s future at Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona wants to include Coutinho in the operation that will bring Neymar back to Camp Nou. Die Roten will have a great chance of securing this transfer if Barca fails to reach an agreement with PSG for Neymar.
Sky Sports in England has also backed Kicker’s claim. The English outlet insists that the Bundesliga champions have a genuine interest in the Brazilian forward. This report insists that Bayern will try to sign Coutinho on a two-year loan deal if Barcelona fails to agree on a deal with PSG. Barca’s spokesperson confirmed Die Roten’s interest in Coutinho to Goal, but all parties are yet to reach any agreement.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has previously insisted that the German club is waiting for a domino effect in the transfer window. The Bavarians were heavily linked with Ousmane Dembele at that time and the Frenchman could become an option if Neymar returns to Barcelona. Either way a late move from Bayern for Coutinho or Dembele is likely to depend on whether Neymar manages to seal a move to Catalan.
Coutinho has struggled to deliver consistently for the Spanish champions. The Brazilian rejected moves to Premier League clubs last week, so it will be interesting to see whether he is ready to play in the Bundesliga. Barcelona will also demand a high loan fee for him, as they will be looking to recoup the majority of £142 million that they paid to Liverpool in 2018.
The former Liverpool forward has delivered best performances of his career when he is playing just behind the striker. Leon Goretzka, Thomas Muller, and Serge Gnabry can play this role at Bayern. Coutinho will improve the quality of the squad, but Die Roten currently needs reinforcements in other positions.
