Bayern Munich has reportedly enquired Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

The final few weeks of the transfer window are set to be busy for Bayern Munich. Die Roten has been surprisingly inefficient in closing out the deals for their prime targets. The current squad is light on numbers, which makes these final few weeks of the transfer window even more important for the Bundesliga champions.

Attacking department at Bayern needs reinforcement before the deadline day. There was a major setback for Die Roten last week as Man City’s Leroy Sane suffered a serious injury. The German winger was Bayern’s top transfer target and the club was reportedly taking positive strides towards completing this transfer.

The Bavarians will have to look at other alternatives as Sane is set to be out for more than six months. Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho has reportedly emerged as one of the candidates for Bayern’s attack.

More from Bayern Strikes

According to Mundo Deportivo, Bayern Munich has enquired about the financial details of the loan transfer through Coutinho’s representatives. The Brazilian midfielder faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou. This report suggests that Barcelona is ready to sell him and could try to include him in the deal to bring Neymar Jr from Paris Saint-Germain.

Coutinho became the third most expensive player in the world when Barcelona agreed to a deal worth £142 million with Liverpool in January 2018. The Brazilian has struggled to live up to this price tag and struggled to perform consistently for the Spanish club. Barcelona offered him to top Premier League clubs in this window but Coutinho was not interested in a move back to England.

The Brazil international is at his best when he is deployed in the attacking midfield position. Coutinho also has the qualities to play as a number eight in a three-man midfield. However, his creativity and dribbling abilities also help him in playing on the left side of the attack.

It will be a strange move from Bayern if they decide to complete a deal for Coutinho. His wages and loan transfer fee will be very high. Most importantly he does not fits the system Niko Kovac wants to play at Bayern. Moreover, Die Roten have numerous options in the attacking midfield area.

The German club desperately needs a winger that can cause havoc in the final third with his pace and trickery. Meanwhile, a deal to bring Ivan Perisic back to the Bundesliga is nearing completion as Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that the Croatian winger is undergoing medical checkups in Munich today.
