Noussair Mazraoui holds talks with Bayern Munich to decide on future

With pre-season set to start at Bayern Munich next week, the futures of several senior players will be a topic for discussion at Sabner Strasse. Bayern have been busy completing deals for new players, but they also need to trim the size of the squad to balance the books.

Noussair Mazraoui is one of the several players who face an uncertain future in Munich. According to Footmeracto, Mazraoui is holding talks with Bayern to get clarity about his future. The current tendency is to leave Bayern this summer amidst inquiries from several clubs.

Mazraoui joined Bayern from Ajax on a free transfer in 2022. The Moroccan defender has made 55 appearances for Die Roten across two seasons. He has been a decent full-back for Bayern but couldn’t cement his spot in the starting XI. Moreover, injury problems have also hampered Mazraoui from establishing himself as Die Roten’s first-choice right-back.

Bayern strengthened the right-back position in January by signing Sacha Boey from Galatasaray. The French full-back may become the first-choice right-back under Vincent Kompany. Konrad Laimer, Josip Stanisic, and Joshua Kimmich can also play in this position, which allows Die Roten to part ways with Mazraoui.

The Bavarian club should look to get €20-30 million for Mazraoui. The Moroccan defender will also benefit from a change of scenery. Mazraoui needs to join a club where he will start every weekend to get back to his best. He is entering the peak of his career, so a move this summer will benefit all parties.

Matthijs de Ligt is the other defender at Bayern who looks certain to leave the club this summer. The Dutch defender wants to join Manchester United. The Premier League side is in advanced talks with Bayern over the transfer fee. It is a matter of when than if for De Ligt to complete a move to Manchester United.

Dayot Upamecano is also on the list of departures at Bayern. The French defender was the fourth-choice center-back in the squad during Ruckrunde last season. He will hold talks with Bayern and Vincent Kompany before making a decision about his future. The next few days will be decisive regarding the futures of Mazraoui, De Ligt, and Upamecano.
