Bayern Munich will start working on transfer deals in the next few days as they want to complete the bulk of their transfer business by the end of the European Championship. The Bavarian club wants Joao Palhinha from Fulham to strengthen the midfield, while there is concrete interest in Jonathan Tah and Xavi Simons.
Along with adding new players to the squad, Bayern also wants to trim their wage bill. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern have identified six senior players who could be sold if adequate offers arrive during the summer transfer window.
The Bavarian club has two players in each department available for transfer this summer. In the defensive area of the squad, Bayern are ready to part ways with Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt.
It is surprising to see these two defenders on Die Roten’s transfer list since both fared well during Ruckrunde. De Ligt is eager to stay in Munich, but his future will depend on where he features in Vincent Kompany’s plans for next season.
In the center of the park, Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are candidates for sales. The Bavarian club does not consider the German midfield duo an indispensable part of the squad. Kimmich has been heavily linked with a move to Bavaria in the last 12 months. He is set for talks with club chiefs after the European Championship.
Meanwhile, Goretzka has been linked with a move away from Bavaria for the second consecutive summer. West Ham United and Manchester United showed interest in Goretzka last summer, while Juventus has been recently linked with the German international. Goretzka wants to stay in Munich, but he may have to look for options if Die Roten actively push for a transfer.
As per Sky, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry are candidates for sale in the attacking department at Bayern. The French forward is reportedly open to a new adventure, while the Bavarian club is ready to part ways with Gnabry after inconsistent performances over the last two seasons.
Despite featuring on the club’s departures wish list, there is no guarantee all six players will be sold in the summer. Bayern are planning a squad overhaul. They need funds to finance the overhaul, which will likely come from big sales. However, they may not get adequate offers for each of these six players for different reasons. It will be intriguing to see how Bayern handles departures since they are making big changes after a long time.
