The last three games have seen Bayern Munich dominate in the center of the park. They managed to completely silence Arsenal’s midfield at Allianz Arena. Leon Goretzka played a crucial role in the midfield during these three games.

The German international is deployed in a defensive midfield role alongside Konrad Laimer or Aleksandar Pavlovic. His physicality and awareness out of possession give the team much-needed defensive solidity in the midfield. Goretzka keeps the play ticking when Bayern are dominating the possession.

Along with providing defensive solidity, Goretzka also contributes in the final third. His late runs create mayhem in the opposition’s box. He came close to scoring the opening goal against Arsenal last week. On Saturday, The German international chipped in with a goal and assist against Union Berlin.

Goretzka has been in good form over the last couple of months. The German midfielder is facing an uncertain future in Munich since the Bavarian club is planning a squad overhaul in the summer. While talking to SportBild this week, Goretzka reiterated his desire to continue playing for Bayern next season.

"From my point of view, everything is clear - my contract runs until 2026, and there's no reason to think about a move."

Juventus have reportedly shown interest in Goretzka. Manchester United and West Ham United were also interested in Goretzka last summer. Unless Bayern pushes Goretzka towards the exit door, a transfer will not materialize in the upcoming transfer window.

While talking to a German media outlet a few weeks ago, Max Eberl was tight-lipped about Goretzka’s future at Bayern. The new coach at Bayern will have a big say on Goretzka’s future in Munich. Even if Goretzka is not the first-choice midfielder for the new coach, he will look to buckle down and force his way into the team by working hard in training.

The 29-year-old midfielder wants to end the season strongly with Bayern and get back in the German squad for the European championship. Julian Nagelsmann did not call up Goretzka for the friendlies against France and Netherlands. The German midfielder wants to change Nagelsmann’s mind by delivering consistent performances until the end of the season.

Goretzka delivered two quality performances against Arsenal. Tuchel will stick with him in the midfield against Real Madrid in the semi-final. The midfield battle against the Spanish team will be even more intense since they have some of the best midfielders in the world. Before hosting Real Madrid next Tuesday, Bayern will play a home game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
