Jonathan Tah’s potential move to Bayern Munich in danger of falling through
By Tushar Bahl
Bayern Munich may not end up signing Jonathan Tah after all, with no agreement in sight over the transfer fee for the Bayer Leverkusen defender.
Jonathan Tah has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent weeks, with those in charge viewing him as the top target to bolster their central defense. However, the Germany international’s proposed move to Bayern now appears to be in danger of falling through.
According to BILD, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are currently worlds apart when it comes to the transfer fee for Tah. With his contract expiring at the end of next season, Bayern only want to pay around 20 million euros for the 28 year old. The Bundesliga champions, though, are seeking double that fee.
Bayern also already have five center-backs in their ranks, so there is a good chance that they may decide against signing Tah. The Bavarians bolstered their defense last week with the signing of Hiroki Ito from VFB Stuttgart. While Bayern are willing to sell Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano this summer, it remains to be seen whether any concrete and suitable offers will arrive for the duo.
Tah remains keen on a move to Bayern Munich, and an agreement on personal terms has already been reached between the two parties. But it is currently unclear whether he will get his wish. The defender played a key role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga title win this season, and is now keen for a new challenge. However, with an agreement not in sight, Bayern may look to move on to other targets.
