Could Hansi Flick make spectacular Bayern Munich return?
Hansi Flick is emerging as a leading candidate for the Bayern Munich head coach job, and is seemingly open to a return to the club.
Bayern Munich have been linked with a host of different coaches since announcing that Thomas Tuchel will be leaving the club at the end of the season. But with Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick rejecting interest from the Bavarians, the search for a new head coach is no closer to reaching its conclusion.
The latest name to attract the interest of Bayern Munich is no stranger to the club. According to SportBILD, Hansi Flick has emerged as a leading candidate for the Bayern coaching job. The former Germany head coach enjoyed a successful spell at Bayern from 2019-21, and also led the club to the Champions League title.
The magazine adds that Flick can well imagine a return to Bayern Munich. While he had a frosty relationship with then sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic during his first spell with Bayern, the 59 year old is on good to neutral terms with most of the club's current bosses.
The likes of Erik ten Hag and Julen Lopetegui have also been linked with Bayern Munich in recent days. But it does not appear that the Bayern bosses have serious interest in appointing them.
It was earlier reported that Hansi Flick wanted to work abroad in his next coaching role, and he was heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona. But the Spanish giants decided to retain Xavi, and Flick could now be in line for a spectacular return to Bayern Munich.
