Bayern Munich want to make radical changes to the squad this summer after enduring a trophyless season. The Bavarian club has started the summer well by signing Hiroki Ito, Michael Olise, and Joao Palhinha. Bayern have to generate funds by selling players to sign the remaining transfer targets.

Leroy Sane is not at the top of the list of sales at Bayern. The German winger has entered the final year of his contract in Munich, which has led to speculation about his future. According to Football Transfers in England, Sane is a backup transfer target for Arsenal to strengthen the attack.

The North London side’s top transfer target in attack is Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. The Spaniard reportedly prefers a move to FC Barcelona. If Arsenal fail to find breakthrough in talks to sign for Williams, a move for Sane can become a concrete option. Mikel Arteta has previously worked with Sane at Manchester City, so Arsenal’s interest in the German winger is not a surprise.

From Bayern’s perspective, they are not actively looking to sell Sane. The German winger is settled in Munich and wants to sign a new deal. The Bavarian club is planning to hold talks with Sane when he returns from vacation.

Sane enjoyed a terrific Hinrunde last season, but performances dipped during the second half of the season. The German winger was troubled by a groin injury during Ruckrunde. Die Roten managed his workload during the business end of the season when he was getting back to his best and Bayern were going deep in the Champions League knockout games.

The German winger’s groin injury returned during Euro 2024 quarter-final against Spain. Sane underwent surgery to resolve the issue. The 28-year-old forward is expected to be fit for Die Roten’s pre-season tour of Asia later this month.

Bayern want to sell Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry this summer to make space for new attacking players. However, both players are yet to receive concrete offers for both wingers. They may have to forcefully consider the sale of Sane if there is an offer on the table and other wingers are staying at the club.

Since Sane wants to stay in Munich, Bayern will not be worried about Arsenal’s interest in the winger. Sane’s long-term future at Bayern will be decided in the coming weeks as both parties look to find an agreement over a new deal.
