Bayern Munich will face competition from Real Madrid for top transfer target
Bayern Munich wanted to make major changes to the attacking options during the summer to bring down the average age of the squad. After signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace early in the summer, Bayern wanted another young attacking player. They couldn’t get deals over the line for Xavi Simons and Désiré Doué.
The record champions will look to get a young attacking player next summer. Florian Wirtz is the top target for Bayern to add more quality to their attack in 2025. Bayer Leverkusen will ask for a significant fee for the German forward. Die Roten will be open to breaking the bank for him, but they will face considerable competition from one of their European rivals.
According to AZ, Real Madrid are also interested in signing Florian Wirtz. Bayern are very interested in the German international. Die Roten expect Wirtz to cost €100 million instead of €150 million that Bayer Leverkusen want for him.
Wirtz will have two years left on his contract at Bayer Leverkusen next summer. It will be an ideal time for Leverkusen to cash in. The interest from Bayern and Real Madrid could lead to a bidding war. There is likely to be interest from the Premier League and other big European clubs in the young forward as the season progresses.
Bayern cannot afford to miss out on Wirtz
Bayern are going to fight hard to sign Wirtz since they consider him a long-term target. The Bavarian club wants their attack to be built around Wirtz and Jamal Musiala in the long run. The young German attacking midfielders can be the face of Bayern for the next decade.
Wirtz has kept improving his game at Leverkusen despite suffering a serious cruciate ligament injury in 2022. He played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s domestic double win last season. The 21-year-old versatile attacking player has also established himself in the German national team.
It is a no-brainer for Bayern to put all their efforts into signing Wirtz next summer. They currently have three wide players in their late 20s (Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman), calling for an overhaul of the attacking department over the next couple of years. Wirtz is the perfect candidate to be part of this overhaul. Die Roten cannot afford to miss out on a top German talent like Wirtz to another European rival.
While Bayern will certainly make a move for Wirtz at the end of the season, the German star will look to hurt his potential future employers when Bayer Leverkusen visit Allianz Arena on Saturday.
