Jamal Musiala continued his fine start to the season on Saturday against Werder Bremen. The German attacking midfielder was on the scoresheet for Bayern Munich as they clinched a comfortable 5-0 victory.
Musiala has been involved in five goals this season for Bayern (three goals and two assists) across all competitions. Apart from his productivity in the final third, Musiala’s overall performance as an attacking midfielder has been impressive.
Bayern Munich are keen on extending the contract of Musiala. His current deal expires in 2026. With several big European clubs keeping a close eye on Musiala’s contract situation, Bayern want to reward him with a bumper deal and secure his future. The Bavarian club wants Musiala to be the face of the club in present and future.
Die Roten were reportedly going to meet representatives of Musiala after the first international break. While talking to Bild on Sunday, Christoph Freund provided a positive update on the contract negotiations with Musiala.
" It's a very important topic for us. Jamal should be one of the faces of the club in the coming years and it's our big wish to keep him at the club. He's a fantastic player and does special things on the pitch. Fans come to the stadium to watch players like him. We're in talks, we have a good relationship with Jamal and his entourage. We want to keep him."Christoph Freund
Bayern are not setting a deadline for resolving the future of Musiala. The young attacking midfielder has already publicly revealed the conditions required to stay in Munich for a long time. In an ideal scenario, Rekordmeister should complete negotiations with Musiala before the winter break. They cannot allow the negotiations to drag into the final year of his contract.
Bayern want renewals for Kimmich and Sane without putting strain on wage bill
Apart from Musiala, Bayern are also working on contract extensions for Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane. The German internationals are already on big wages, which makes the negotiations for new deals a bit complex.
In the interview with Bild, Freund showed confidence about extending the contracts of Kimmich and Sane without putting strain on the wage bill. The negotiations with Kimmich and Sane will accelerate in the coming weeks since they have less than 12 months left on their existing deals.
Sane is open to staying in Munich, and the club wants to extend his contract. Kimmich was expected to leave in the summer since Bayern were open to listening to offers for him. However, both parties are now open to a contract renewal.
Meanwhile, Freund also admitted that Bayern are calm about the contract situations of Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer. Both players will be free agents next summer if Die Roten don't extend their contracts. Neuer and Müller are focusing on club football after retiring from international football. The German veterans have started the season well. Bayern will hold contract talks with them later in the season.
