Bayern Munich chiefs will be busy in the next few weeks defining the future of several senior players. The Bavarian club is looking to part ways with some of the highest earners in the squad. Bayern will also look to open contract talks with players who are part of their long-term plans.

Alphonso Davies is considered part of Bayern’s long-term future. However, the Canadian full-back has entered the final 12 months of his contract. Die Roten have failed to find an agreement with his representatives over a new deal.

Bayern are allowing Davies to run down his contract. They are not actively looking to sell him this summer. Real Madrid have shown concrete interest in the left-back, but the Spanish club is yet to open talks with Die Roten. Vincent Kompany reportedly considers Davies a crucial part of his plans for next season.

Davies will be open to speaking with interested clubs regarding a free transfer in January. Despite the delicate situation of his contract, Bayern are not ruling out the possibility of a new contract. While talking to the media this week (via Sky Sports), Christoph Freund insisted that things could change in the coming months.

"He's played a very good Copa América with Canada and only lost out on the third place on penalties. He's now on vacation. Talks have taken place but have not yet led to an agreement. The door is certainly not closed. The most important thing is that he finds his form after his vacation. We'll see what the next few months will bring."

As things stand, Davies will start the new season at Bayern. He is expected to be first choice left-back for Die Roten. Unless Real Madrid come up with a big offer later in the transfer window, the Canadian full-back will play in the Bavarian colors next season.

Bayern already have a contingency plan for Davies’ departure. They held talks with AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez. The French fullback is open to joining Die Roten. However, the Bavarian club didn’t start talks with AC Milan since Davies has not left Bavaria. Girona’s Miguel Guiterrez has been scouted by Bayern as another option for the left-back position.

Elsewhere, Bayern will sit down with Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane for new contracts. Musiala’s current deal expires in 2026, but Die Roten want to hand him a long-term deal. Sane is also eager to stay in Munich and get back to his best under Vincent Kompany. Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich will also hold talks with Die Roten and Kompany. Both players are on Die Roten’s list of departures.
