Alphonso Davies is set to stay at Bayern Munich for the final 12 months of his contract, even with the risk of him leaving on a free transfer next summer.
It appears that the future of Alphonso Davies has now been resolved, with Sky Sport reporting that Bayern Munich have made the decision to keep the left-back at the club for the final 12 months of his contract.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Davies in recent months. But with no offer on the table, the Bavarians have seemingly decided not to sell him this summer.
The Canadian international will be out of contract at the end of next season, and the chance remains of him leaving on a free transfer in 2025.
In the meantime, talks over a contract extension are continuing. Sky Sport add that Bayern Munich have sent an improved offer to Davies, but his representatives are still demanding an annual salary of 20 million euros.
Vincent Kompany is reportedly keen to keep Davies at the club. Despite his struggles in the second half of last season, the 23 year old is viewed as one of the top left-backs in the world.
The uncertainty over Davies’ future is certainly not ideal for Bayern, even if they do decide to keep him at the club for the final 12 months of his contract. Max Eberl and co. will certainly hope that an agreement over an extension can be reached in the coming months.
Bayern Munich were said to be considering Theo Hernandez and Ian Maatsen as potential replacements for Alphonso Davies. Now it looks like there will be no changes at the left-back position for the time being.
