Bayern Munich make second bid for Désiré Doué
Bayern Munich are focussing on adding one more player to their attacking department. The Bavarian club has two targets to fill this position- Xavi Simons and Désiré Doué. With Simons being the priority option, Bayern continue to pursue a deal for Doué.
According to L’Equipe and Fabrizio Romano, Bayern have made a second bid for Rennes winger Désiré Doué. The new offer is worth more than €40 million, including add-ons. Die Roten are getting closer to Rennes’ demands as they want a fee closer to €60 million for the young French winger.
Bayern had the first bid rejected for Doué ten days ago. The first offer was worth €35 million, including add-ons. The French forward wants to resolve his future before France starts their campaign at the Olympics later this month.
Meanwhile, RMC and Foot Mercato are reporting that Die Roten’s second bid is worth €55 million with add-ons. Sky Sports in Germany have also confirmed Bayern’s second bid. They also confirm that Doué is keen on joining Die Roten, but a final decision is not made.
It was reported in Germany that Bayern are prioritizing a move for Simons over Doué. The Dutch attacking midfielder can leave PSG on loan with an obligation to buy this summer. It does look like Die Roten are yet to find a breakthrough in talks with the French Champions. Moreover, Manchester United have also reportedly joined the race to sign Simons.
Doué can play on either flank or operate as a number ten. The 18-year-old French winger enjoyed a productive season with Rennes last season, getting a significant amount of game time at the senior level. He is considered one of the brightest attacking talents to come through Ligue 1.
PSG remain confident about beating Bayern for Doué
Paris Saint-Germain are Bayern’s biggest rivals in the race for Doué. The French champions made a superior first bid than Die Roten. It looks certain that PSG will return with an improved offer for the young winger.
According to The Athletic, PSG are confident about beating Die Roten for the signature of Doué. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is personally involved in negotiations to bring Doué to the French capital. The French winger has yet to decide his next destination, but the bidding war between PSG and Bayern will soon end as they are coming close to Rennes' valuation. Once Rennes accepts offers from PSG and Bayern, it will be up to player to make the final decision.
