Bayern Munich are looking to bring down the average age of the squad this summer. In the attack, they have signed Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. Bayern are working to add more young players to the attacking department.
In the last couple of weeks, it has been widely reported that Bayern want to sign Xavi Simons and Désiré Doué to improve their attacking options for next season. However, the club chiefs have decided to prioritize a move for only one forward.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern are working on a deal for Xavi Simons. The Dutch attacking midfielder is the preferred signing over Désiré Doué. Die Roten wanted to sign both players, but there has been no next to no movement regarding departures, which has restricted the German club’s transfer budget.
As per RMC, Bayern already have personal terms agreed with Simons. The Bavarian club is looking to sign Simons on loan with an obligation to buy. The French club is also open to considering only loan deals for Simons since PSV Eindhoven have a clause to get a big chunk of the transfer fee until 2025. Move for Simons is likely to be accelerated in the coming days as he returns from vacation.
Bayern had a bid rejected for Doué. Rennes want more than €60 million for the French winger. Paris Saint-Germain have also made a bid for the young winger, which is more than Die Roten’s offer. The Bavarian club will focus on getting Simons instead of Doué unless the Dutch international moves somewhere else.
The record Bundesliga champions also have an interest in RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo. According to Sky Sports, a move for Olmo will only materialise if Die Roten fail to get one of Simons or Doué. The Spaniard’s release clause in contract at RB Leipzig worth €60 million expires over the weekend.
Bayern are yet to receive concrete bids for Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. The Bavarian club wants to part ways with both players this summer. If they end up selling both senior wingers, Rekordmeister may contemplate adding a third new attacking player to the squad.
