Bayern Munich have been aggressive and decisive with their recruitment this season. They have signed three players before the start of the pre-season training. Bayern have taken concrete steps this week to add another attacking player to the squad.
According to Le Parisien, Foot Mercato, and RMC, Bayern had a first bid rejected for Rennes winger Desiré Doué. The first bid for the winger was worth €35 million, which included €5 million in bonuses. The Bavarian club is expected to return with an improved offer for the young winger.
Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano and TZ in Germany have also confirmed Die Roten’s first bid for Doué. RMC has reported that Paris Saint-Germain are expected to make an offer for the youngster. Doué is a long-term target for Bayern. They want to sign him either this summer or in 2025.
RMC and Footmercato have also reported that Doué is the top target for Bayern to strengthen the attack after signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. The plan B for Die Roten for the same position is PSG’s Xavi Simons. Bayern have already held talks with PSG over a loan deal for Simons. L’Equipe has revealed that Rennes want €60 million for the young French winger.
Doué had four goals and four assists in 40 appearances for Rennes last season. The 19-year-old can play on both flanks and operate as an attacking midfielder. He is a prolific dribbler, making him a difficult player to contain for the opposition. It will be a transfer for the present and future for Bayern if they manage to agree a fee with Rennes.
Bayern need to make space in the squad for the acquisition of Doué. They want to part ways with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. The Bavarian club is hoping to hear offers for Coman since France are out of the Euro. Gnabry is determined to stay in Munich, but he may have to leave Die Roten to get regular playing time next season.
Die Roten would look to wrap up a deal for Doué before the start of the pre-season tour. The Bavarian club should look to make an improved offer before PSG steps up their interest in the winger.
