Bayern Munich officials seemingly contacted former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane to express their interest in him potentially replacing Thomas Tuchel.

Work is ongoing behind the scenes as the Bayern Munich bosses look to find a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season. The likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto De Zerbi have been heavily linked with the Bayern head coach job in recent weeks.

But Marca are now claiming that Bayern Munich officials have contacted Zinedine Zidane's agent in recent days to convey their interest in appointing the 51 year old as head coach, and to learn about his willingness to return to the dugout.

Zidane has had two spells in charge of Real Madrid, but has been out of a job since leaving the Spanish giants at the end of the 2020/21 season. The Frenchman led Real Madrid to three straight UEFA Champions League titles, and also won the La Liga twice with them.

It remains to be seen just how real Bayern Munich's interest is in appointing Zinedine Zidane as their next head coach, or how keen he might be to make the move to Bavaria. But he is a proven winner who enjoyed a decorated playing career and plenty of success during his two stints as Real Madrid manager.

Zidane has turned down a number of managerial roles in recent years, but said recently that he would like to make his return to coaching in the near future.
