Bayern Munich have accelerated the squad-building process after announcing Vincent Kompany as their new head coach. The Belgian wants clarity around the futures of key players in the squad. Kompany wants to keep Alphonso Davies in the team for next season. Bayern held productive talks with Davies’ representatives in the last few days.

According to Bild and Sky Sports, Bayern are ready to improve their contract offer for Davies. The Bavarian club had made a final contract offer in March with a wage package of €13-14 million, including bonuses.

The Canadian defender is looking for a salary close to €20 million. Die Roten will not meet those demands but will get closer to it with their new offer. Davies is also leaning towards staying in Munich despite interest from Spain.

Real Madrid had shown significant interest in Davies over the last 12 months. However, the Spanish club is yet to open talks with Bayern regarding a transfer. Bayern had given Davies a deadline in March to decide about a contract extension. The Bavarian club will have to sell him in the summer if a new deal is not agreed in the coming weeks.

Kompany’s desire to keep Davies has forced Bayern’s hand to make another contract offer for the defender. There is growing optimism at Die Roten that they will manage to rebuff interest from Real Madrid and keep Davies for the next five years.

The transfer speculation in the last 12 months affected Davies on the pitch. His performances dipped during the season, which cost him a place in the starting XI. Thomas Tuchel utilized Noussair Mazraoui in the left-back position during the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

The Bavarian faithful will hope Davies will rediscover his best form after signing the new deal. He has been a consistent player for Bayern since moving to the left-back position in 2020. Davies is still 23, which makes a contract extension very valuable for Die Roten. They will keep a player entering the peak years of his career despite interest from Real Madrid.

After sorting the future of Davies, Bayern will hold talks with Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich in July regarding contract renewals. Sane wants to stay in Munich, but Kimmich’s future is up in the air, with FC Barcelona showing strong interest in the German midfielder. Die Roten will sell Kimmich if they don’t agree on a new deal.
