Bayern Munich have reportedly made Vincent Kompany their top target, and have already held concrete and positive talks with the Burnley manager.

With Thomas Tuchel leaving Bayern Munich, the search to appoint his successor is ongoing. The Bayern bosses have had to deal with a number of roadblocks in their search in recent weeks, and it now appears that Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany is leading the race to become their next head coach.

According to Sky Sport, the Bavarians have already held concrete and positive talks with the 38 year old, and are fully focused on him as their top target. Mauricio Pochettino has also been linked with the Bayern job following his departure from Chelsea, but it appears that no contact has yet been made between the two parties.

No agreement has been reached between Bayern Munich and Kompany as of yet either. And the situation could change at any point, as Bayern have found out time and again in recent weeks.

Kompany is regarded very highly as a manager, and began his coaching career with Belgian side Anderlecht before moving to Burnley in 2022. He led the Clarets to Premier League promotion in his debut season with the club, but was unable to prevent them from getting relegated in the recently concluded campaign. He is now ready for a new challenge, and could be in line for a move to Bayern.

Known for deploying an expansive and attack-minded style of play, Vincent Kompany has the potential to be a shrewd appointment for Bayern Munich as the club looks for some stability. Bayern have gone through a number of coaches in recent years, and it is certainly crucial for those in charge to get the next appointment right.
