Bayern Munich identify Euro 2024 winner as Xavi Simons alternative
By Tushar Bahl
Bayern Munich are still considering a move for Dani Olmo, and regard the Euro 2024 winner as a potential plan B to Xavi Simons.
A new attacking midfielder is increasingly likely to arrive at Bayern Munich, and Max Eberl appears set to raid his former club with RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo joining Xavi Simons on the club's list of targets. Bayern's interest in signing the duo is no secret, although the Dutch star remains their first-choice, with Olmo viewed as the plan B.
This is being reported by BILD, and the tabloid further claims that Bayern are in contact with the Euro 2024 winner's agents. If the complicated deal to bring Xavi does not go through, the Bavarians could turn their focus on Olmo.
Bayern Munich would have to pay 60 million euros to sign Dani Olmo
There is a release clause of 60 million euros in the 26 year old's current contract with RB Leipzig, but it is all set to expire this week. But BILD add that Leipzig would be willing to sell Olmo for a similar fee even after the expiry of the clause. Manchester City and FC Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the attacking midfielder in recent weeks.
Dani Olmo was the star of the show as Spain won the European Championship, beating England in the final on Sunday. He scored three goals and assisted a further two, and was involved in both of Spain's goals in their quarterfinal against Germany.
Désiré Doué is another name on Bayern Munich's list of targets, and Rennes reportedly want a fee of around 60 million euros for his sale. Xavi Simons remains the priority target, although PSG are only looking to send him out on loan this summer.
