Bayern Munich’s lengthy and tedious search for a new coach will finally come to an end this week. The Bavarian club has decided to go all in for Burnley’s Vincent Kompany to replace Thomas Tuchel. Bayern have agreed personal terms with Kompany. The negotiations with Burnley are ongoing, with a possibility of a conclusion by the end of the week.

After failing to close deals with several candidates, Bayern are finally breathing a sigh of relief since negotiations for Kompany have been straightforward. The Belgian coach will bring the majority of his coaching staff from Burnley, but Craig Bellamy is expected to stay with the English club.

Bayern also have plans to provide more support to Kompany by adding an existing employee to his coaching staff. According to TZ, Bayern are considering promoting René Marić to the backroom staff of Vincent Kompany.

Sporting director Christoph Freund brought Marić to Bayern a few months ago. The Austrian coach was appointed as team lead coaching development and game planning. Marić has been working as the link between the first team and the campus. It remains to be seen if he will continue working in this role if promoted to the coaching staff of Kompany.

Marić has the experience of coaching the first team in the past. He was assistant coach of Jesse Marsch at Leeds United before joining Bayern. The 31-year-old had coaching stints at RB Salzburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Borussia Dortmund. He assisted Marco Rose at all three clubs. The Austrian is considered one of the brightest minds in Europe when it comes to coaching.

Meanwhile, none of Thomas Tuchel’s coaches are staying at Bayern. The German head coach is likely to take them to his next destination. Tuchel may end up in the Premier League this summer since he is on Manchester United’s shortlist to replace Erik Ten Hag.

Bayern will look to sort out a deal for Kompany and his coaching staff by the end of this month. They can start planning for summer transfers with the Belgian coach once the deal with Burnley gets over the line. After a disappointing Bundesliga campaign, Bayern are planning a squad overhaul in the summer to bounce back strongly next season.

Along with adding new faces to the squad, Bayern chiefs must define the futures of several senior players. They will hold further talks with Joshua Kimmich once he returns from the Euros, while Alphonso Davies is yet to respond to Die Roten’s final contract offer. Rekordmeister are ready to make tough decisions in the summer.
