Nick Woltemade still hoping for Bayern Munich summer move

Despite the stance maintained by VfB Stuttgart since Supercup game, Nick Woltemade remains hopeful about getting a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

Bayern Munich are in search of signing a forward on loan before the end of the transfer window. They have shifted their stance to focus on a loan signing after VfB Stuttgart decided to block Nick Woltemade’s move to Bavaria. Bayern had identified the German forward as the second signing to strengthen the attack this summer.

Woltemade had agreed personal terms with Bayern in July. The defending Bundesliga champions had two bids rejected after the end of the U-21 Euros. Die Roten halted their move for the 23-year-old forward to complete the deal to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool.

Bayern reopened talks with Stuttgart last week after the departure of Kingsley Coman. They made a third bid for Woltemade, which was quickly rejected by Stuttgart. Bayern had no plans to meet Stuttgart’s demands of €75 million fee for Woltemade. Stuttgart closed the door for Woltemade’s move to Bayern this summer after last weekend’s German Super Cup. Bayern also gave up on the idea of signing Woltemade this summer and turned their attention towards other targets.

Despite the stance of two clubs, Sky Sports is reporting that Woltemade has not given up on moving to Munich this summer. Unless Stuttgart provide any encouragement, Bayern are unlikely to come up with another offer for the German forward.

Woltemade has no plans to sign a new deal at Stuttgart

Woltemade and his agent have expressed disappointment over Stuttgart’s conduct in the negotiations with Bayern. They had expected to see two clubs reach a middle ground and sort out a transfer this summer.

With a move to Munich looking unlikely, Woltemade has no plans to sign a contract renewal at Stuttgart. The Supercup runners-up are reportedly planning to offer an improved deal to the German striker, but they are unlikely to enjoy a successful outcome in the negotiations.

Woltemade will get an adequate amount of gametime at Stuttgart this season. He can cement his place in Germany’s squad for next summer’s World Cup by delivering a prolific Bundesliga campaign. The German striker may explore other opportunities next summer instead of fixating on a move to Bayern. He had reportedly rebuffed interest from Napoli and Chelsea in favour of a move to Munich this summer. There is no guarantee that Bayern will end up signing Woltemade next summer.

In the meantime, Bayern remain in talks with Chelsea for Christopher Nkunku. Personal terms are not a problem, but Chelsea want a permanent transfer. It will be intriguing to see who Bayern move for if Chelsea don’t soften their stance on exit terms for Nkunku.
