After several weeks of disappointment, there is finally some movement for Bayern Munich in the transfer market. The Bundesliga champions have clinched the deal to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool. The Colombian forward will travel to Germany on Monday to complete the medical and other formalities.
There is going to be one forward in and one out at Die Roten this summer. According to Bild and transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, Bayern are in advanced talks with Celta Vigo for the departure of Bryan Zaragoza.
The Spanish winger doesn’t feature in Vincent Kompany’s plans for next season. Bayern didn’t include Zaragoza in the squad for the Club World Cup as they believed his future lies away from the club. He had spent last season on loan at Osasuna.
Bryan Zaragoza enjoyed a decent last season in La Liga. Spain was always going to be the direction of travel for him, but there has been interest from Fenerbahce. He rejected the chance of moving to Turkey. Celta Vigo had first initiated talks with Bayern at the end of June. It does look like things have finally moved in the right direction for all parties to complete this transfer.
Bayern open to loaning Bryan Zaragoza for one more season
The Bundesliga champions wanted an outright sale, but Celta Vigo have been looking to sign Zaragoza on a loan deal. As per Matteo Moretto (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are now open to a paid loan with an option that becomes mandatory if certain conditions are met by Zaragoza next season. They are looking to recoup the majority of the €15 million they had spent on him to sign from Granada in 2024.
Porto, Bournemouth, and a French club had also shown interest in signing Zaragoza. However, the winger wanted a move to Spain. It does look like he will get his wish with a move to Celta Vigo.
Zaragoza will go down as one of the strange signings Bayern have made over the years. He arrived in Munich at the start of 2024 but never got the opportunity to show his talent on the pitch. The Spaniard will leave Bayern after making just seven appearances. He was loaned out to Osasuna six months after he arrived in Munich.
Bayern will continue to work on signing another forward once they complete the transfers of Luis Diaz and Bryan Zaragoza. The Bavarian club will look to unlock negotiations with VfB Stuttgart to sign Nick Woltemade. The German striker has already agreed on personal terms with the German champions.
