Along with adding quality attacking players to the squad this summer, Bayern Munich also have to raise funds by selling fringe players. They have already agreed a transfer for Mathys Tel. The French forward has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis after moving to London for a loan spell in January.
The next player on the departures list at Bayern is Bryan Zaragoza. The Spanish winger was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup since he is not part of Vincent Kompany’s plans for next season. Zaragoza had a productive loan spell at Osasuna last season. He is looking to make a permanent move to La Liga this summer.
According to Sky Sports journalist Kerry Hau, Celta Vigo are holding concrete talks with Bayern for Bryan Zaragoza. It remains to be seen if it will be initially a loan move with an obligation/option to buy. Die Roten want to recoup the majority of €15 million they paid for him 18 months ago.
Apart from Celta Vigo, there has been reported interest from Villarreal and other Spanish clubs in Zaragoza. He is ready to join Celta Vigo, provided an agreement is reached between both clubs.
Bryan Zaragoza- one of the strange transfers at Bayern
Bayern had agreed a deal with Granada for Zaragoza in November 2023. He was expected to join in the summer of 2024. However, Bayern decided to bring the signing forward in January after Kingsley Coman suffered a serious injury. The Bavarian club paid an added premium to get him early.
However, Zaragoza never got adequate game time under Thomas Tuchel during the second half of the season. Tuchel insisted that Zaragoza will need time to adapt to a new league and country.
Bayern eventually loaned him out to Osasuna in the summer after they signed Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. Zaragoza didn’t get an opportunity to prove himself under Vincent Kompany. He has made seven appearances for Bayern in the last 18 months. The Spaniard will go down as one of the strange signings made by Die Roten.
Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller are the other departures in the attacking department at Bayern. The German duo will be leaving on a free transfer. Sane has played his last game for Bayern, while Muller will leave once the team’s Club World Cup campaign comes to an end. Bayern desperately need at least two signings to strengthen Vincent Kompany’s options in the final third.
