Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic shared some interesting backstage stories from the club in a recent interview with Sport BILD. The question that brought a lot of curiosity among the fanbase was Pavlovic's friendship with fellow Germany internationals Tom Bischof and Lennart Karl.
Bischof, born in 2005, and Karl, born in 2008, both made their Bayern debuts last season. The pair quickly grabbed attention and received international call-ups in the most recent Nations League campaign.
Pavlovic is one year older than Bischof and made his debut for the club in 2023. After three years, he has quickly established himself as the present and future of Bayern's midfield, even turning down a nine-figure offer from Manchester City in the process.
Being the eldest of the "next generation" trio, Pavlovic ensures he gives his younger brothers help and attention to familiarise themselves with the first team.
"I’ve known both of them for a while. Although I never played alongside Lenny Karl in Bayern’s youth teams, we stayed in touch from time to time. I also played against Tom quite a few times at youth level. I tried to be friendly and take the boys under my wing and be there for them. I think that helped both of them a lot. They’ve integrated well into the team and are now a big part of it."Aleksandar Pavlovic
The Golden Trio are not only teammates on the pitch, but they remain close friends outside of it.
They are often seen walking together at Bayern social events and on the national camp. There were hundreds of pictures of the three at last year's Bundesliga finale and cup ceremony, a scene that would warm all of Bayern fans' hearts.
Pavlovic insisted that he enjoys spending time with Bischof and Karl off the pitch. He hopes to achieve sucess for club and country with them for several years.
Pavlovic defends Joshua Kimmich amidst criticism for his performances in German colours
Many people may see Bischof as Pavlovic's biggest competitor for a starting spot at Bayern and in Germany, but they seem to have ignored all the talks and focus on getting better as a duo.
Vice-captain Joshua Kimmich is playing a major role in accelerating the growth of these two talented midfielders. Kimmich was reportedly one of the first players to message Bischof when he arrived at Bayern last summer and has continued to be his mentor this season.
Pavlovic insisted that there is no debate about Kimmich's quality. He enjoys playing with Kimmich. Pavlovic believes his qualities complement well with Kimmich in the center of the park.
The tight-knit relationship amongst Bayern's German midfield cohort is a positive sign for the future. Bayern should always have a strong group of German players. They have managed to have great German players across the spine of the starting XI for several years. The likes of Karl, Pavlovic, Jonas Urbig, Nathaniel Brown, and Bischof can be the next crop of great German players for Die Roten.
